This course examines the literature of Europe, Southeast Asia and the Pacific, South America and the Native American cultures. Through reading, examining, and responding to the literature selections, the student will explore the complexities of world literature. A variety of written assignments will develop writing skills and improve the student’s ability to recognize literary devices. A variety of literary genres (short stories, plays, poems and essays) will be read and vocabulary development will be enhanced. Completion of a research paper is required.
